About Us

Bennington Area Robotics is a community-based youth robotics group, drawing middle and high-school aged students from Bennington and surrounding towns, including North Bennington, Shaftsbury, Hoosick Falls and Cambridge.

The students — from southwestern Vermont and neighboring New York — design, build, and program their robots themselves, with guidance from community mentors. Team 18650 Cookie Clickers is the first southwestern Vermont team to advance to the FIRST Championship in Houston TX, to compete against other top teams from around the world.

We participate in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), an annual robotics competition where four robots race to collect and score game pieces on a 12’x12’ playing field.

Bennington Area Robotics is a program of The Bennington Area Makers, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible. Learn how to donate.

Team members design, build, and program their own robots to perform tasks and score points. Along the way, students develop skills in mechanical engineering, programming, planning, design, presentation, collaboration, and gracious professionalism (competing hard while helping other teams succeed).

Students work directly with technical mentors from the local community, including mechanical engineers, automation engineers, and software developers.
